plaid and olive.

i want a small gas tank, about the same size as my cl125 tank, with the notches in the front that fit on the rubber mounts. since my cl125 is too pretty to chop up, i figured i'd just get a replacement tank to kreem the inside, bondo any dents and repaint. also make my own seat - a plaid one. that way if i wanted to go stock, id just put on the old tank and the new seat in a matter of minutes.

heres a mockup of what id like to do. it'd look slickkk.

TON UP!

finished my cafe racer build! after working on it all winter its ready to rip. once again, how i got it:

and after stripping the fairing, a new headlamp and mounting brackets, new regulator/rectifier, sanding the spare tank, kreeming it, priming it, painting it and clearing it, fabritcating a cafe seat, making the upholstry for it and license mount, new tail light, and drag bars (facing down, as clubmans had me reaching too far) as well as new grips and bar end mirrors (mirrors in the mail) here it is:

peanut butter cake.

got my clutch lever on and clutch cable conntected and working smoothly and properly. also drilled a hole for the killswitch and throttle tubing on the handlebars so it'd screw in place and connected the throttle cable to work nicely.

also started doing bondo bodyfiller on the faux tank. looks like i just frosted a peanutbutter cake.

don't forget the cool tattoo i did on thursday on eric, accompanied in the picture is some other healed stuff i did on him.

1978 gs550 cafe racer almost done.

so heres the story of my gs if you dont know it. i got it this past summer like this:

i stripped off the fairing and saddle bags. got a headlight bucket off an old goldwing, and rode it factory stock right out of 1978 all summer like this:

i got a rusty as hell tank, which was sandblasted and coated...

i also built a cafe seat from starting with the rear oem seat cowl and wood.

primed the tank and seat...

then painted both. also made the upholstry for the seat with foam, wood and leather from jo-ann's

alot of extra frame hanging off, which i hacksawed off.

and heres the tank and seat mounted, the wires are being connected and i should have it done by this weekend. TONS of high res photos to follow...

made a blogspot...

I've been meaning to make one of these for several reasons: to post tattoos and paintings, as well as progress on my motorcycle builds.

I'm currently cafe-ing a 1978 suzuki gs550, restoring a 1974 honda cl125, and building an early 1900's indian board tracker out of a bicycle frame.

the cafe is almost done, but I'll post the progress on the indian now.

started with a 26" huffy cranbrook cruiser bike.

cut off some extra. im mounting a gastank on the underside of the top bar of the frame, then making a "fake" fiberglass tank to mount overtop. that of course will have the old style indian logos on it and everything.

i painted it red, as well as painted the rear wheel with appliance epoxy (the front is getting the same) im contemplating using all black tires, no white walls, to get a beefier tire look...

fake tank out of cardboard and covered in foil so the fiberglass resin wouldnt stick.

a layer of fiberglass cloth.

then another layer of fiberglass mat, and this is how it is now. i still need to cut it to shape and smooth it out with gold body filler.

sitting on the bike.

flipped bars for that early board track look, and an extra mirror left over from my cafe build.

the engine should be here friday. its a 50cc two stroke engine, thats left side driven. it has to be 50 or under to obtain a moped sticker, and so i wont need to insure it.
